Social and Emotional Development Programming

Posted on Nov 19, 2014 in

As part of our Health Canada DSCIF Project, we are taking on the challenge of delivering social and emotional development programming to rural and remote areas.

Accessibility issues often contribute to many social emotional issues youth face in northern Ontario. During the months of September and October Alan and Sandra were in Sault Ste. Marie working with the Algoma District School Board and Algoma Public Health, and in Thunder Bay working in the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, training retired educators, teachers and students to deliver peer-led workshops.

All future training will be delivered via e-learning platforms – an exciting new element that we are developing in partnership with these school boards.

“Well, my favourite Trinity moment obviously has to be the day we went canoeing. It started raining and we were going insane! And basically we had to catch the nearest shelter. And surprisingly, no one really complained about it. At the end of the day, everyone went home happy and what not.” Summer Program 2013
